Chipmaker AMD expects a down year for gaming and PCs as RAM shortages lift prices

AMD reported record quarterly revenue of $13.4 billion, with $8.5 billion from data-centre chips, and forecast $17 billion next quarter. Its gaming business fell 40% from a year earlier to $773 million. CEO Lisa Su said rising component prices have slowed sales and that AMD is planning for a down year in consumer markets in 2027. The finance chief said data-centre chips could become more than 80% of AMD's revenue.
