Anthropic confirms its coding tool Claude Code now refuses to reproduce video games

An Anthropic employee confirmed that Claude Code, the company's AI coding tool, now has instructions not to reproduce games' intellectual property. Tom's Hardware reports that users also say Anthropic's Opus 5.5 model is blocking reverse-engineering tasks. The Verge says Anthropic will still let people use Claude Code to make games, just not copies of existing ones. Anthropic says it is "iterating" to find the right balance. Ars Technica argues the rule won't stop the wider wave of AI-made game copies.

Do anything? Only if you use Claude Code for game ports or reverse engineering; expect refusals while Anthropic adjusts the rules.
