Intel expects PC sales to keep shrinking into 2027 as memory prices rise

Intel reported third-quarter revenue of $16.5 billion, up 21%. Its data centre and AI chip sales rose 78% to $7.3 billion. Its forecast for the fourth quarter was $15 billion to $16 billion, below the roughly $17 billion analysts expected, partly because of a plant shutdown in Israel. Intel's shares fell about 29% on Friday to $65.76. Intel expects PC unit sales to fall about 12% this year and reportedly sees another 10% drop in 2027. It blames pricier memory and storage chips. CFO David Zinsner said the PC slowdown will continue at least through the first half of next year.

Affects you: If you plan to buy a PC, expect memory and storage to keep pushing prices up for a while.
